Selena
She broke down barriers within the music business in her roles as a performer, singer and designer. She was at once traditional and modern, a Mexican American who brought the two worlds together in a unique manner. She was a rising star but her sudden death broke it. It is also the case when a brilliant, genial and young artist is lost too quickly, many mourned the potential she was yet to reach. Since then, her fans have been working harder in an effort to keep in mind what she has achieved. The tragic shooting death of Tejano singer Selena spawned a reaction within the Latino community that can be thought of as similar to the responses in the wake of the deaths of Elvis Presley and John Lennon. Selena was a hugely loved singer by Latinos throughout North America. But her music touched both the young and old. Selena has been called by certain people as an Latina Madonna, however she is still a great example to follow. Selena's family values off stage and her participation with AIDS awareness efforts make her a good example.
